Tech Track

Interactive Multimedia has been a powerful tool but has lacked the capability of creating a real 3D world ala the game machines. Macromedia and Intel have teamed up to give you full control of the 3D world within Director 8.5. Out tech track will show some of the Intel demos and open the hood of Director 8.5s 3D LINGO.

Presented by David Rosenblatt who has been a Director Developer since 1988.

Program

To 3D or Not to 3D-Animation

Presenters: Mark Peterson and Micah Jarrett

We will be examining the issues surrounding 3D animation versus 2D animation and when to choose one over the other. Mark will demonstrate the 3D side in action. Micah will show off some 2D cheats using Adobe Photoshop to achieve that 3D look in a 2D timeframe. Please join us as we try to answer the age old question of "to 3D or not to 3D..."

October 2002

Technical Track

Lynette Beuligmann presented the purpose and benefit of using licensed makeup artists and hairstylists, both for health and legal issues. Real-life situations were given as examples of the potential consequences associated with cross contamination when applying make-up. All producers should take notice of the health risks and legal ramifications. For more information visit the website of Florida’s Department of Business & Professional regulations at www.myflorida.com and look for the Cosmetology State Board laws and check for valid licenses.

Program

Chris Layhe and Spencer Briggs conducted an introspective look at the media industry as attendees participated in Q&A about where they had started in the industry and where they are now. The evolution not only of equipment but of the individuals using the equipment had everyone realize how much transition, almost inconspicuously, happens over time.

Chris also gave a demonstration showing the difference in video images between Beta SP, DVcam and minicam, illustrating which one he thought would have better final resolution in certain digital editing systems.

Fun Stuff

Some meetings also have a fun side as several of our members and guests try posing as a moose.
