“Audio Production and Introduction to Soundtrack Pro”
This month's Media Professionals of Florida meeting was held at the Jan Platt Library in Tampa.
Fresh cooked hamburgers provided by Cathy Straka – our great board member.
As always everyone at Media Professionals of Florida enjoys our networking time.
A Bonus Track entitled "Production Planning Spreadsheet" was provide by Steve Brown, owner/operator of 10-20 Productions .
Steve shared his Excel document, which has many line items a producer can use to automatically calculate costs for a production proposal. Steve has made this available to everyone. To download Steve's Excel Spreadsheet CLICK Here!

Orben Torres is a specialist in post production and tonight Orben covered "Audio Production and an Introduction to Soundtrack Pro".
Orben started with a commercial he created for us. Here he shows the commercial in Final Cut Pro. Orben let us hear some audio problems that might have been created in the original video production and he showed us how to fix some of these in SoundTrack Pro and how the "Round Trip" process works between Final Cut Pro and SoundTrack Pro.

Orben covered non-destructive editing, managing unwanted audio, recording multi-take voiceovers and time stretch to fit a music track into a final commercial.

One of the great tips Orben provided was a feature of SoundTrack Pro to distinguish room noise from the narration and reduce the overall audio file by that noise, providing a cleaner sound track.
Here we actually inserted a live narrator (Chuck Drake) into a sound track and saw the ability of SoundTrack Pro to keep multiple takes of the narrator's audio tracks.
The final result was when Orben brought all of the revised audio tracks back into Final Cut Pro for a finished product

Steve Brown - 10-20 Productions (Bonus Track)


As owner/operator of 10-20 Productions since 1986, Steve Brown provides location video, lighting and audio equipment and crew for broadcast and corporate production.  He also works regularly as director, camera operator, gaffer and lighting director for a variety of clients including ABC Sports, American Express, Bank of America, Busch Gardens, C-SPAN, Darden Restaurants, Discovery Channel, Entertainment Tonight, FOX Sports, Golf Channel, GTE, Harpo Productions, Home Shopping Network, Jabil Circuit, Met Life, NBC, Outback Steakhouse, Price Waterhouse Coopers, Paramount Pictures, Time Warner Communications, and Walt Disney World.

Steve has served as camera operator and director of photography on numerous award winning productions, including one that received a Crystal Reel Award and two that garnered ADDY awards.

Orben Torres (Program)
Orben Torres is a specialist in post production.  He has a music background as a singer-songwriter before he turned his creative attention to video production.  His primary tool for music creation is Garageband.
Orben has used Soundtrack Pro for several projects and has put together a presentation that will introduce us to features of Soundtrack Pro that may prove useful for various productions.
