Tuesday night's meeting was a huge success, despite the size of the venue the was a large attendance and many new faces had a chance to network for quite a long time. |

Milton Jones from Apex Digital Imaging and Steve Brown from 10-20 Productions demonstrated two DVD recorders that might be used to make DVD copies of your videotape masters. One DVD recorder was a $150.00 Magnavoxand the other was a multi-thousand dollar Pioneer PRV-L1. While there was a minor difference in the recording quality, the major differences appear to be authoring capabilities and the number and types of inputs. After discussion amongst the attendees, the consensus seems to be that we shouldn't be disposing of those videotape masters just yet, since inexpensive DVD recordings aren't as robust as we might hope. Apparently, DVDs recorded by this process aren't necessarily perfect or permanent. There will undoubtedly be more information on this topic in the near future,so stay tuned! |
