"Location Scouting and HD Formats"
| The food was moving at Pinellas 18 studios in Clearwater as we nibbled and networked. |
| Barry Bienstock, MPFI's president, started the evening by having everyone introduce themselves to the group.. |
| Guy Balson, St. Petersburg/Clearwater Film Commission Manager, showed us some of the assets available from the St. Petersburg/Clearwater Film Commission. He gave us tips on scouting and finding sites for production in the Tampa Bay Area. |
| Guy showed us some of the exceptional images that the St. Petersburg/Clearwater Film Commission has developed and catalogued to assist us in finding sites. He also covered the do's and don'ts of permitting and went on to explain how the St. Petersburg/Clearwater Film Commission works with everyone to make productions happen smoothly. |

Christian "Chris" Moriarty is a DP/Editor who has worked in the Tampa Bay Area for 20+ years. He covered his move to High Definition and why we should shoot at the highest resolution and then cross convert the video to the desired format for playback.
| 740i, 1080p, 30fps, 24 fps? what's the difference? Well, Chris covered those differences and explained why he is shooting at 24 frames per second and not at the older broadcast standard of 30 fps. |
He showed examples of programs produced for clients in one format that have been converted into other formats using Apple's Final Cut Pro editing system and AJA's Kona card (Capture, Up-Down and Cross Conversion).

After many years of using Avid, Chris recently switched to Final Cut Pro to better embrace high definition and 24P projects.
