| There were two programs for this month's meeting. Cathy Straka, a local free-lance producer, spoke about the reasons for needing “releases” for all kinds of productions… and not just talent releases! | ||||

Did you know that there are releases for products and locations as well? She told a great story about how having those signed releases saved her… big time! |

Cathy had several different kinds of releases as handouts, so if you missed the meeting, you might still be able to get a copy! See below in the Handout section on how to get those forms. |

| The second program was by Mike Barnitt, of Bilagaana Recording Company. He spoke about location audio techniques and gave examples of what to do… and what NOT to do. | ||||

To record quality audio in the field, you need to use good quality equipment and you need to know how to use it. Of course, there’s nothing like experience to fix that sound of clothing rustle (or the sound of chest hair) on a lavalier mic. |

Mike stressed how important it is to use a good quality boom mike in place of a lavalier, when possible. Oh yeah, and one other thing… have a backup plan in case that hard disk recorder crashes! Afterwards Mike was available to answer questions and share his expertise on an individual basis with our group. |

| A special thanks to Carl Schweibinz and HCC for hosting another great MPFI meeting. | ||||
