"THROUGH MY EYES"
"THROUGH MY EYES" showcased the editing talents of five MPFI members; Joel Freedman, Tom Krug, Ron Satlof, Cathy Straka and Orben Torres. All participants were given the same original video footage to edit from. Each editor could choose their own music, titles and graphics. The original video was shot by Cathy Straka for a client who wanted to use the finished video to send to corporations to get sponsorship money.
The editing demonstration showed the group how the television/production business is a very creative and subjective business. No two people imagine the same image or finished product exactly the same. That idea was very evident after viewing the creative perspectives from the five very different edited stories. It was a fun and light hearted meeting, yet very informative at a non technical level.
Steve Brown signs members and guests into the meeting and makes sure everyone fills out a name tag. Members enjoy pizza to snack on while they network before the meeting begins.
Cathy Straka, one of the "Through My Eyes" editors, and coordinator of the meeting, played her DVD and explained how she produced, videotaped and edited the original footage.
Joel Freedman's news style video was voted the best "Through My Eyes" edited story. Great job! Congratulations Joel!

Orben Terres, another "Through My Eyes" participant, shows his edited story to the group. Orben researched sponsorship criteria for this assignment and included a website as part of his edited video.

Ton Krug explains the guidelines and criteria he followed, and wanted to accomplish, when editing his video.

A tour of the W14AW studio introduced many members to the Pinellas County School facility for the first time. The studio, editing rooms and master control were just a few of the surprises in store for the members.

Most MPFI members were not aware that W14AW even existed. Members were impressed with the high quality of equipment and overall function of the School Board's television operation. The secret is out!
