Jan. 2006

January's meeting was informative, exciting and was held at the City of Tampa Cable Communications production facility.

Networking is always an important part of MPFI meetings and the good food doesn't hurt
Jeremy Hummer from Hi-Tech Enterprises demonsted the Fig Rig Camera Stabilizer from Bogen/Manfrotto.  We not only got a good look at product on studio monitors but got our hands on the unit as well. For more information contact Jeremy at (www.videoequipment.com
Tom Krug of ClarityProductions in St. Petersburg is the new president of MPFI and got the meeting off to a great start.
Steve Brown from 10-20 Productions presented the program, "It's All about the Signal". This was an in-dept walk through of technical terms that all media people should understand.

Steve explaned pedestal (also called set-up), why we needed it in the first place and and whether or not we still need it in a digital world.
Other topics included knee, gamma, black stretch, zebras (the indicator, not the animal), skin tone detail, termination, IRE units and basic waveform/vectorscope reading
Steve's knowledge of this subject provided answers we need to produce better video. For more information contact Steve Brown at (www.1020tv.com) and see the links to a handout and to more technical information below.
As usual, great doorprizes we available for some lucky people. Special thanks to Jim Hypes of Recording Media & Equipment ( http://www.rmeinc.com ) of Orlando for some of our doorprizes. The meeting's excellent Canon video projector was again  provided by Media Concepts in St. Petersburg, www.mcifl.com
