Giving Back

The Judges

Your entry is judged by industry professionals who have at least ten years of professional experience in visual communications. Judges are not allowed to review entries by organizations with which they have any affiliation. Decisions of the judges are final.

The Evaluation

The judges individually evaluate each program for the effective use of the medium, creativity, production values and techniques, and technical quality. Judging forms are based on the category submitted. Using standardized forms, the judges assign numbered scores to each of these areas. Olympic scoring is then applied to the evaluations. The high and low scores are eliminated and the average of the remaining scores determines the final score for each entry.

Viewing Limits

Judges view at least ten minutes of each program. If your program is 20 minutes or longer, please select a ten minute segment which you feel is most representative of your work. When you submit your entry, include the ten minute segment at the head of the tape. Make a note on the tape label that you've included a special segment for the judges to view. If the label does not indicate that you've included a representative segment, the judges will assume you want them to view the first ten minutes of the program.

New Procedure for Program Entries

Please select a one minute clip of your program which may be used during the awards festival if your program is a winner. Include this clip on your VHS entry following the end of your program or you may submit your one minute clip on Betacam or Beta SP for the program reel (in addition to the VHS entry copy).

Eligibility

Only programs produced by companies whose primary business resides in the state of Florida are eligible. Entries that have been previously submitted for Golden Palm judging are not eligible unless entered in a different category.

The same program may be entered in multiple craft and program categories.
